PRESS RELEASE

Ten Civic Clubs within the City of De Pere have joined together to set aside a day to honor the services of their public safety servants.  The Rotary Club of De Pere; the Kiwanis Club of De Pere; the De Pere Optimist Club; the Woman’s Club of De Pere; the Men’s Club of De Pere; De Pere Knights of Columbus; Pink Flamingos; Celebrate De Pere; De Pere VFW Post 2113 and its Auxiliary and the De Pere Lions Club have all joined together for a single community project. These civic clubs will work as one to thank and recognize an outstanding De Pere Police Officer(s) and an outstanding De Pere Firefighter(s) for their unselfish service to our community during the previous twelve months.

These Civic Clubs will be hosting a dinner at the Swan Club on Tuesday, February 25, 2020 to recognize the contributions of our bravest and finest public safety servants.  The reception begins at 5:00 p.m., with dinner being served at 6:00 p.m. and the ceremony beginning at 6:45 p.m.  All of the Civic Clubs felt strongly that it’s the perfect time for an outward expression of appreciation and unwavering support for our police officers and firefighters. Officer Tony Phelps has been selected as the Police Department’s award recipient for his compassion towards his peers and the community.  Lieutenant Thomas Hendricks and Firefighter/EMT William Tews will be honored for their professionalism, compassion and humanity.

The Varsity Choir and Double Treble Choir from De Pere High School will perform several musical selections honoring our public safety members and their families.

Officer Tony Phelps, Lieutenant Thomas Hendricks and Firefighter/EMT William Tews will be presented with awards acknowledging their outstanding service to the City of De Pere.  Further, they will receive a monetary award to be donated to the charity of their choosing, in their name.  Sarah Thomsen, Action 2 News at 4 Anchor/News Reporter, will be the Master of Ceremonies for this event.

This event will be open to the public.  If you are interested in attending the ceremony, please contact Lee Meyers at (920) 676-9919 by Wednesday, February 19, 2020.
