No. The De Pere Area Chamber of Commerce website does not use an accessibility overlay, automated remediation plugin, or any third-party widget that attempts to patch accessibility problems at the JavaScript layer. Courts have held overlay reliance legally insufficient (Murphy v. Eyebobs, 2021); approximately a quarter of the 4,000+ ADA web suits filed in 2024 cited overlays as barriers rather than fixes; and the FTC fined one overlay provider $1 million in January 2025 for deceptive compliance claims. Our approach is to write accessible code from the start and fix problems at their source when they are reported.

The De Pere Area Chamber of Commerce targets conformance with WCAG 2.2 Level AA — the current industry and legal standard for web accessibility in the United States. Level AA covers criteria including sufficient colour contrast (4.5:1 for normal text), keyboard accessibility, focus visibility, meaningful link text, proper form labelling, and adequate touch target sizing. We pursue these standards through code-level implementation across every page of deperechamber.org.

When you report, please include: the URL of the page, the element or task that was inaccessible, the assistive technology you were using (screen reader, voice control, switch device, etc.), and what happened versus what you expected. The chamber will follow up, typically within one business day.

The chamber's member platform — the live business directory search, event registration, job board, and membership sign-up — operates on a third-party system (MC Trade / WebLink Connect) at connect.deperechamber.org. That platform has its own accessibility policies separate from deperechamber.org. We link to it clearly and provide text-based alternatives where possible, but we do not control its source code. If you experience a barrier there, contact us and we will flag it to the platform provider on your behalf.

The chamber's brand blue #01A0E2 is used only for decorative fills, large display headings, and graphic elements — never for body text or links on light backgrounds. Text links and interactive blue text use #007AAA, which provides 4.68:1 contrast against white (WCAG AA). Authority text and headings use #005E84, which provides 7.16:1 (WCAG AAA). Green text uses #548028 (4.67:1, WCAG AA). Body text in #1A1A18 against white achieves 17.5:1 (WCAG AAA). White text on navy (#005E84) is 7.16:1. These ratios were calculated at design time and are maintained as a design-system constraint — no page is permitted to use brand blue for small text on light surfaces.

The De Pere Chamber website respects the prefers-reduced-motion media query. When your operating system has the "reduce motion" accessibility setting enabled, the following changes take effect automatically: the events ticker marquee animation stops (the ticker becomes horizontally scrollable instead); scroll-reveal animations do not play (all content is immediately visible); the Fox River gradient animation on banners is stilled; and card hover transitions are removed. No JavaScript is required — this is handled entirely in CSS.
