Director of Engagement

De Pere Area Chamber of Commerce
Full-Time | W-2 Employee | Salary: $45,000–$50,000 + Uncapped Bonus | On-site in De Pere, WI

 Position Overview

The De Pere Area Chamber of Commerce is seeking a dynamic and motivated Director of Engagement to lead our member relations, event coordination, and community engagement efforts. This full-time role is ideal for someone who thrives on building relationships, creating exceptional experiences, and driving results that strengthen our business community.

 Reporting directly to the President & CEO, the Director of Engagement is a front-facing ambassador of the Chamber, responsible for recruiting and retaining members, managing events, and supporting fundraising initiatives.

 

 Compensation & Perks

·         Base Salary: $45,000–$50,000 annually (based on experience)

·         Bonus Program: Uncapped performance-based bonuses tied to membership growth and event success

·         Gas Reimbursement: $150 per month

·         Office Equipment Provided: Office desk phone and laptop computer

·         Work-Life Flexibility: While in-office presence is expected, flexibility is offered to support family obligations and overall work-life balance

·         Benefits: No additional benefits (medical/dental/retirement) currently

 

 Primary Responsibilities

1. Member Engagement (Recruitment & Retention)

·         Serve as the primary point of contact for current and prospective Chamber members

·         Develop and implement strategies to recruit new businesses of all sizes into Chamber membership

·         Conduct outreach (via phone, email, visits, networking events) to onboard and maintain strong relationships with members

·         Regularly visit and connect with members to ensure satisfaction, provide support, and identify engagement opportunities

·         Track and report membership metrics; maintain accurate member records in CRM or database

·         Collaborate with staff to create value-added member experiences and programming 

2. Event Planning & Coordination

·         Plan and execute a full calendar of Chamber events including networking mixers, ribbon cuttings, educational seminars, and signature events

·         Coordinate logistics: venue, vendors, registration, marketing, day-of execution

·         Lead event promotion strategies across email, social media, and community partners

·         Manage event budgets, timelines, and volunteer support teams

·         Seek and secure event sponsorships in collaboration with the President & CEO 

3. Fundraising & Development Support

·         Assist in planning and executing fundraising campaigns, including a multi-year capital campaign

·         Identify and cultivate sponsorship opportunities for events and Chamber initiatives

·         Collaborate with the President & CEO and Board on donor engagement and recognition strategies

Other Duties

·         Represent the Chamber at community events, ribbon cuttings, committee meetings, and partner functions

·         Assist with internal communications, marketing, and promotional content (as needed)

·         Support the execution of strategic initiatives laid out by the Board and CEO

·         Maintain organized and timely documentation, reports, and communications

·         Provide exceptional customer service in all interactions on behalf of the Chamber

 

Qualifications

Required

·         Proven experience in relationship management, sales, event coordination, or community engagement

·         Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills

·         Self-starter with the ability to manage multiple priorities independently

·         Comfort working in a fast-paced, highly collaborative environment

·         Proficiency with office software (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite, etc.); ability to learn the MC Trade platform

·         Must have reliable transportation and ability to attend off-site events and meetings, sometimes outside of normal business hours 

Preferred

·         Prior experience in a Chamber of Commerce, nonprofit, or membership-based organization

·         Familiarity with the De Pere business community and surrounding areas

·         Background in sponsorships, fundraising, or marketing

·         Event planning certification or coursework a plus (but not required) 

Work Environment

·         Primary work location is at the De Pere Area Chamber of Commerce office

·         Flexibility provided for occasional remote work, family obligations, and personal appointments

·         Occasional early morning, evening, or weekend hours required for events or meetings

·         Mileage beyond monthly gas reimbursement may be reimbursed for approved travel
